Sangga Village – Gilmojip (Korean Cuisine)

Korean Folk Village Food Guide, Restaurants, Best Eats, Snacks

As you pass the ticket booth and enter the Korean Folk Village, you’ll find Gilmojip, a Korean cuisine restaurant, about 50 meters ahead on the right.

We arrived around 11 AM, so since it wasn’t lunchtime yet, we decided to explore the Folk Village first.

The restaurant offers a variety of traditional Korean dishes!

Marketplace (Korean Cuisine) – Outdoor Tables & Indoor Rooms with a Total Capacity of 700 Seats!

The Marketplace restaurant in the Korean Folk Village has a large capacity of 700 seats, making it a great option for group visitors!

There are outdoor tables as well as indoor seating with heating and air conditioning.

For a quieter and more private dining experience, you can also choose to sit in a traditional Hanok-style room!

Marketplace Menu Recommendations

Since we visited as a family with a total of eight people, including kids, we ordered a variety of dishes to try.

We ordered bibimbap, seolleongtang (ox bone soup), samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup), pajeon (scallion pancake), mul-naengmyeon (cold noodles), and bibim-naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles).

The sanchae bibimbap was ordered using the ₩10,000 meal coupon included with the “Mother & Child” 2-person admission ticket we received at the entrance.

Not all the dishes were amazingly delicious, but they were decent enough to enjoy. Rather than a gourmet experience, it felt more like a convenient meal while soaking in the atmosphere of the Korean Folk Village.

However, if I had to recommend just one dish, I’d go with the samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) from the Marketplace!

My father ordered it, and it was the most popular dish at our table.

After the meal, we also enjoyed some fresh fruit we had brought from home!

At Cafe Darakbang, located at the entrance of the Marketplace restaurant, we used a discount coupon from our admission ticket to redeem a ₩4,000 brown rice chip.

The brown rice chip wasn’t particularly delicious, but it had a healthy taste. 😆 It was a good snack option for the kids!

As we exited the Marketplace restaurant, we came across a souvenir shop, where we found a cute baby hairpin—a great little find!

Minjok Banjeom – Located in the Amusement Village

민속촌 민속반점

Inside the Amusement Village, there was a Chinese restaurant called Minjok Banjeom.

They serve jajangmyeon (black bean noodles), jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup), tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork), donkatsu (pork cutlet), udon, and dumplings, but we didn’t try anything since we had already eaten lunch.

The ₩10,000 meal coupon from the “Mother & Child” 2-person admission ticket can also be used here!

Sangga Village – Gilmokgotgan (Snacks & Treats)

As soon as you enter, Gilmokgotgan is located directly across from Gilmojip Restaurant, right at the entrance.

This snack corner offers treats like tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), smoothies, soft ice cream, marbled ice cream, sotteok-sotteok (grilled rice cake with sausage), tornado potatoes, and hot dogs!

After finishing our tour of the Folk Village, we grabbed some sotteok-sotteok for an afternoon snack, and it was delicious!

As soon as I entered the Korean Folk Village, I noticed people lying down on the wooden benches and wondered why they were resting there.

But after spending a few hours exploring and walking around, I finally understood—I ended up lying in the exact same spot myself! 😆

Lying on the bench in front of Gilmokgotgan, staring up at the sky, I felt full, tired, and completely relaxed… and soon, sleep started to creep in!
