Last week, my family and I, along with my parents, visited the Korean Folk Village in Yongin, Gyeonggi-do for the first time!
It turned out to be way more fun and engaging than we expected — there were so many things to see and do!
Everyone, from my baby daughter to my countryside-raised parents, had a great time 😊
So today, I want to share all the must-see performances, experiences, exhibitions, and fun activities at the Korean Folk Village to help you make the most of your visit!

Korean Folk Village Performance Schedule – Check the Time & Location!

At the Korean Folk Village, performances happen almost every hour!
You’ll find them rotating across three main locations: Wanhyangnu, Market Street, and the Main Performance Hall.
Make sure to check the schedule in advance, as times and venues can vary depending on the weather or internal events.
They host a variety of performances, exhibits, and traditional demonstrations every month, so there’s always something new to enjoy!

Exploring the Korean Folk Village
Right after entering the main gate, you’ll pass through Market Street and reach the traditional Folk Village.
Here, you’ll walk among authentic thatched-roof, wooden shingle, bark, and tile-roofed houses, all showcasing Korea’s rural heritage.
It’s like stepping back in time — elders can reminisce about the old days, while kids get to learn about Korea’s history in a hands-on way!
My parents, who grew up in the countryside, were especially nostalgic seeing these houses.
As I watched them alongside my child, I could almost imagine what their childhood must have been like

“Samdo Pangut” – 12:00 PM at the Main Performance Hall
While exploring the village, we heard the energetic sounds of the Samdo Pangut performance and headed over!
Tip: On sunny days, make sure to get there at least 10 minutes early to grab a shaded seat — it gets crowded on weekends.

This traditional Korean percussion performance features exciting acrobatics like spinning plates and ribbon hat dances.
It was fun and energetic — everyone loved it, especially my parents!
Weekend Performances
“Pungmul Hangarak” – 4:00 PM (weekends, Main Performance Hall)
Includes Korean traditional dances like the Fan Dance and Bongsan Mask Dance – visually stunning!

“Eolssigu Jeolssiguya” – 2:00 & 6:00 PM (weekends, Market Street)
A colorful parade featuring traditional Korean dance and a comical “Chunhyangjeon” performance.
You’ll spot it right near the entrance!

Horseback Riding Experience – 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Daily)
Right next to the main performance area, you can enjoy a short horseback riding experience!
The fee is KRW 7,000 per person, regardless of age or whether a guardian is riding with a child.

Traditional Folk Exhibition Hall – Ongoing
Behind the performance area is a special indoor exhibition showing the lifecycle of a 4-generation Korean farming family in the late Joseon era.
It gives visitors a unique perspective on how people lived in rural Gyeonggi-do.

Free Traditional Games – 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM
On your way to the amusement park, there are areas where you can try Korean traditional games like:
Neolttwigi (Korean swing)
Yutnori (board game with sticks)
Tuho (arrow throwing game)
We didn’t try the Yutnori or Tuho, but the swing was a big hit with our little one!

World Folk Museum – Ongoing
Near the amusement park entrance, on the right side, you’ll find the World Folk Museum.
Over 3,000 cultural items from around the world are displayed here, showcasing traditional life, homes, food, and clothing from various countries.
Each exhibit is designed like a small house, grouped by country — it’s great for school-aged kids to learn about global cultures and history!

Why the Korean Folk Village is Totally Worth It!
The walking paths are unpaved but very stroller-friendly and easy to navigate — perfect for families with young kids!
There’s plenty of shade and greenery, making it ideal for a relaxing stroll.
What really surprised us was the high quality of the performances and how many activities were included in one place.
And don’t forget — there’s even a separate amusement park area just for kids. Our daughter loved it!
As we were getting ready to leave, my parents sighed and said they wished we could stay longer… that’s how much they enjoyed it 😊
If you’re looking for a budget-friendly, family-friendly destination where everyone can have fun — this is it!
